Awesome Movie Index (AMI): 8.7 / 10
This was Kathleen Turner’s first motion picture after leaving the soap opera Doctors, and arguably her best. Playing the role of a miserable married woman, she succeeds in seducing and charming a Florida lawyer (William Hurt) and ultimately convinces him to kill her husband so they could be happy at last.
Riiight.
Even if the tale sounds familiar, the movie is surprisingly dark and sexy, thrilling and convincing and withstands the test of time – delivering both an excellent uppercut at the end and some remarkably raunchy scenes for the time. Especially if you were, say, 16 when you first saw it. (Just saying.)
